TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, March 30. Uzbekistan plans to increase industrial production by 10 percent in 2024, Trend reports.
This was discussed at a meeting held by President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev on issues of stable development and increasing competitiveness in economic sectors.
In particular, the country intends to increase the gross domestic product volume by more than 6 percent in the first quarter of this year.
The head of state focused on the issue of price stability in the domestic market, stressed the need to expand localization of consumer goods, assist enterprises in increasing production capacity.
He emphasized the necessity to widely use the opportunities of industrial zones and cooperation to implement new investment projects and support domestic producers. President of Uzbekistan noted the importance of increased attention to the production of high-value products and job creation.
At the same time, under the conditions of growing competition in the external market, the country plans to complete the main processes of building the foundation of the market economy in 2024, ensure that the economy reaches a qualitatively new level, and increase the financial independence and stability of enterprises.
Meanwhile, Uzbekistan's enterprises manufactured industrial products worth 96.9 trillion soums ($7.7 billion) from January through February 2024.
As per data from Uzbekistan's Statistics Agency, the index of physical volume of industrial production amounted to 116.4 percent year-on-year.
