Major world powers in the Group of Eight industrialized nations will give negotiations with Iran a chance until September, the French President says, Press TV reported.
Nicolas Sarkozy who was speaking after holding talks with other G8 members said that world leaders would review the situation with Iran at a G20 meeting in Pittsburgh (western Pennsylvania), on September 24 and 25, Reuters reported.
"If there is no progress by then we will have to take decisions," Sarkozy said.
In a separate statement, the G8 said it was committed to a diplomatic solution to Iran's nuclear issue.
The G8 summit opened in the central Italian city of L'Aquila on Wednesday.
