Iran’s imports from US increases by 54%

The United States exported 1842 metric tons of goods, worth $6 million to Iran in Iranian first calendar month (March 21-April 20).

The US exports to Iran indicate a rise by 53.65 percent in terms of value and an increase by 2087 percent in terms of volume compared to the same period of last year, the Islamic Republic's Customs Administration said in its latest monthly report released May 5.

Tehran's imports from Washington stood at $154.12 million during the last Iranian fiscal year (ended on March 20), 16.4 percent more year on year.

Iran imported 36,363 metric tons of goods from the US in the period, indicating a rise by 47.5 percent in comparison with the preceding year.

Imports from the US shared 0.29 percent of Iran's overall imports in the 12-month period (March 20, 2014-March 20, 2015).

No exports from Tehran to the US were registered in the period.

The Islamic Republic's non-oil exports (excluding condensates) stood at $2.209 billion during last Iranian calendar month (March 21-April 20), while imports accounted for $1.971 billion.
