By Fatih Karimov - Trend:

The Platform of Phase 21 of Iran's South Pars gas field will be installed later in June, said Rahim Tabrizi, CEO of the Iranian Offshore Engineering and Construction Company.

The platform will be installed simultaneously with the Platform 19C, Tabrizi said, SHANA news agency reported June 6.

He further said that the phase 21 platform will come on stream by November 2016, expressing hope that some one billion cubic feet of gas will be produced per day once the phase is inaugurated.

Laying the pipelines of the phase 21 is completed, Tabrizi said, adding testing the pipeline is underway.

Platform of phase 21 will also be installed in September, he said, adding it will come on stream by February 2017.

The world's largest gas field, the South Pars is shared with Qatar and is a source of competition for extraction.

South Pars is divided into 24 development phases and contains 40 trillion cubic meters of natural gas.

Iran produces over 420 million cubic meters per day (mcm/d) of gas from South Pars, while the production level is projected to surpass 700 mcm/d by late 2018.
