Iran imported over 50,290 passenger cars during the first 11 months of the current fiscal year (March 20, 2016-Feb. 20).
Iran’s car imports registered a rise by 49 percent in the period compared to the same period of the preceding year, according to the Iranian Customs Administration.
The country imported $1.277 billion worth of cars during the 11-month period, according to the report.
The Islamic Republic imported 28,575 cars, worth $705 million with engine capacity between1500-2000 cc in the period, which indicates a rise by 70.26 percent year-on-year in terms of value.
Iran also imported 21,715 cars, worth $572.114 million with engine capacity between 2000-2500 cc during the first 11 months of current fiscal year, registering a value rise of 34.4 percent compared to the same period of preceding year.
The Islamic Republic imported 30 million tons of goods, worth $38.415 billion during the first 11 months of the current fiscal year, 3.47 percent more year-on-year in terms of value.
