Iran’s Opex Fund plans to export CNG by ship (Exclusive)

Oil Product Export Development Fund of Iran (Opex Fund) is planning to export the Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) by its new vessel, an official told Trend.

Mohammadreza Zamani, the head of Opex Fund, has estimated that the issue of exporting CNG by the new vessel of the Opex would be realized within the coming 15 months.

The new ship named “Aram” (peace) is capable of transferring gas to neighboring countries such as Oman, Pakistan and Yemen, he added.

He further added that the vessel is capable of carrying 2,000 tons of cargo.

The country produces over 800 mcm/d of gas, most of which come from South Pars, a large offshore gas field in the Persian Gulf shared by Iran and Qatar.

Iran plans to annually export 10 billion cubic meters of gas to the Persian Gulf counties over the next four years.
