Iraq reveals details of strategic long-term electricity agreement with Iran

TEHRAN, Iran, July 23. Iraq's Ministry of Electricity has revealed the details of the country's strategic agreement with Iran in the energy sector, Trend reports citing IRNA.

Iran has signed a long-term strategic 'electricity contract' with Iraq to provide its neighbor with sustainable energy supply.

According to the mentioned agreement, Iran will export 400 megawatts of electricity to Iraq for five years, spokesperson for the Iraqi Electricity Ministry Ahmed Mousa said.

The spokesman of the Iraqi Ministry of Electricity also said that Iraq could refrain from importing electricity from Iran during the off-peak times.
