Chairman of the Iranian Expediency Council advisory body, Ayatollah Mahmoud Hashemi Shahroudi died after a long illness, Trend reports referring to Mizan News Agency.
He was hospitalized in one of Tehran’s hospitals due to illness.
Shahroudi was born in 1948 in Iraq’s Najaf city.
He was also a member of the Iran Assembly of Experts, chairman of the Expediency Discernment Council, chairman of Iran's Guardian Council and head of Iran's Judiciary.
