Speaker: Constitutional Commission to be created in Georgia by end of May

A State Constitutional Commission will be created in Georgia by the end of May, Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia David Usupashvili said at a news conference on Wednesday.

According to him, a project of several constitutional amendments will be initiated in the near future.

"The constitutional model adopted by the National Movement in 2010 come into force after the presidential elections. Little time remains, and no fundamental change of this model will be made. But initiation of several major changes have happened before," Usupashvili said.

"We ask not only the members of Parliament, but also representatives of non-governmental organizations and experts to participate in the work of the commission," Usupashvili said.
