The number of visitors from Iran traveling to Georgia in December 2021 increased 320 times, compared to just 12 visitors over the same month of 2020, and totaled 3,851 people, Trend reports via Georgian National Tourism Administration.

However, the same figure decreased by 57.9 percent, compared to 9,149 visitors in December 2019 (before the COVID-19 pandemic).

Thus, Iran ranks 13 among TOP-15 main countries of origin for visitors arriving in Georgia in December 2021, the report said.

Meanwhile, the number of visitors from Iran traveling to Georgia from January through December 2021 increased by 8.8 percent to 18,549 visitors, compared to 17,053 people over 2020.

The same figure decreased by 86.9 percent in the reporting period of 2021, compared to 2019, when 141,997 people visited Georgia from Iran.

Meanwhile, the total number of international visitors to Georgia from January through December 2021 amounted to 1.8 million visitors, which is an increase of 7.7 percent, compared to 1.7 million over the same period of 2020.
