King Abdullah II of Jordan on Sunday stressed the need for forming an Iraqi government that meets the aspirations of the Iraqis and effectively participates in building a better future for Iraq, the state run Petra news agency reported.

At a meeting with Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki in the Jordanian capital of Amman Sunday, Abdullah II reiterated his country's support to Iraq's efforts to restore its stability and security, Xinhua reported.

King Abdullah said Jordan supports all efforts that seek to realize accord in Iraq and enhance unity among Iraqis. The two sides discussed means to enhance bilateral ties and underlined the importance of taking practical steps to foster the relations in different fields, especially in fields of economy and commerce.

Discussions between the Jordanian leader and Maliki also covered developments in the Middle East and several regional issues of mutual concern.

Maliki said he highly values the king's efforts and support for Iraq that seek to enable the country to restore its stability and security, stressing keenness to boost ties with Jordan in different fields.

Also Sunday, Jordanian Prime Minister Samir Rifai met with Maliki and looked into means to foster bilateral ties in different fields.

Rifai and Maliki agreed to instruct officials in their countries to follow up on the meeting, underlining the need or activating the work of the Jordanian-Iraqi Joint Committee.

Meanwhile, Rifai said Jordan will take part in the Baghdad International Exhibition that will be held next month.
