Egyptian Foreign Minister Mohamed al-Orabi resigned Saturday ahead of an imminent cabinet reshuffle, official television reported.
Prime Minister Essam Sharaf accepted al-Orabi's resignation, according to the TV report, which gave no reason for the resignation, DPA reported.
Al-Orabi was appointed in June. He previously served as Egyptian ambassador to Germany for eight years.
Sharaf has been under pressure from Egyptian protesters to remove ministers from his government who served under former president Hosny Mubarak, or those who had links with the formerly ruling National Democratic Party.
The new cabinet is expected to be announced Sunday or Monday.
