Twelve hostages have been killed at Algeria's In Amenas gas complex since the start of a raid to free them by security forces, Algeria's state APS news agency said Friday evening, quoting security sources.
APS did not say how many of the dead were foreign nationals. Algerian officials told the agency earlier that around 100 of 132 foreign hostages had been freed and about 30 foreign workers remained unaccounted for, dpa reported.
A group of gunmen continued holding a group of hostages at a gas processing plant Friday afternoon.
APS earlier reported that 18 gunmen had been killed out of an initial group of around 30.
