The Palestinian negotiating team has not been updated on any plan by the European Union to complete peace talks with Israel during 2013, PLO official Saeb Erekat said Sunday Maan reported.

Earlier, Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth reported that the EU is working on an initiative which sets out the principles of a future peace accord, and a timetable for agreeing the key issues.

It will be presented in March and Israeli officials warned the newspaper it would put Israel in an "awkward position," as Palestinians were likely to sign-up while Israel would be less eager.

Erekat, a former chief negotiator, said they had not seen a plan. He reiterated the Palestinian position that settlement-building must be frozen and Palestinians prisoners released before talks with Israel.

Peace talks broke down in broke down in 2010 after Israel refused to renew a partial settlement freeze in the West Bank.
