Russia president arrives in Luxembourg

( Itar-Tass ) - Russian President Vladimir Putin and his wife Lyudmila have arrived in Luxembourg.

This is the first official visit by a head of the Russian state to the Grand Duchy.

The president and his wife went from the airport to the Grand Ducal Palace, where Putin will hold a conversation with Grand Duke Henri.

Later in the day the Russian president will hold talks with Prime Minister Jean-Claude Juncker.

The programme of Putin's brief visit includes a ceremony of laying a wreath at the Monument of National Solidarity.

The Putin couple arrived at the Grand Ducal Palace, where Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Marie Theresa met them.

A guard of honor was mustered and flags of Russia and Luxembourg hoisted by the arrival of the guests.

The president and the grand duke reviewed the guard of honor, and the orchestra played the two countries' anthems.

Putin and his wife and the grand duke and his wife entered the palace, where they were photographed, after which they held a conversation in the Hall of Kings.
