Ankara does not intend to introduce a visa regime for Russian citizens, despite the aggravated relations between the two countries, the Turkish embassy in Russia said Dec. 4, RIA Novosti reported.
"Turkey will not introduce a visa regime for Russian citizens as the Russian people are friendly," the diplomatic mission said.
Turkey-Russia relations deteriorated after the Turkish Air Force shot down the Russian Su-24 warplane Nov. 24.
After the incident, the Russian president signed a decree on the measures to ensure the national security and special economic measures in relation to Turkey. In particular, according to the document, Russia suspends a visa-free regime with Turkey and cancels charter flights from January 1, 2016.
