Uzbekistan's foreign trade turnover increases marginally

Uzbekistan's foreign trade turnover increased by two per cent in January-March 2012 compared to the same period of 2011 and amounted to $5.908 billion, the Uzbek State Statistics Committee said on Monday.

According to statistical data, the volume of exports since the beginning of the year declined by 7.4 per cent and amounted to $3.134 billion, imports grew by 15.3 per cent, up to $2.774 billion.

The foreign trade surplus amounted to $360.3 million compared to $1.124 billion during the same period of 2011 (a 3.1times increase).

As was previously reported, in 2011 foreign trade turnover of Uzbekistan increased by 15 per cent, up to $25.537 billion, including exports grew by 15.4 per cent, up to $15.027 billion and imports by 14.5 per cent to $10.509 billion. Trade surplus during last year increased by 6.4 per cent and amounted to $4.517 billion.
