Ukraine’s Altcom Financial Industrial Group has completed the work on construction of a railway bridge over the Amu Darya River, said an official Turkmen source.
The 1,750-meter long railway bridge is the most grandiose engineering structure in the Lebap region of Turkmenistan.
The bridge’s opening ceremony was attended by Presidents of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
It is envisaged that thanks to the use of high-strength construction, the railway bridge between Turkmenabat and Farab will be able to withstand the weight of the superheavy cargo trains.
Altcom Group said in early June that the cost of the project’s contract is estimated at $169 million.
The railway bridge Turkmenabat-Farab is of great importance for the development of local economy, since there is a junction station in Turkmenabat. This area is a part of the Great Silk Road and is strategically important for the development of international transportation.
