Iran will be observing the conditions recently laid by Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in the exchange of enriched uranium, Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) spokesman Behrooz Kamalvandi said.

"As for the exchange of enriched material that we give to Russia we will take care that materials are taken in return according to some agreement," he said, Nasim news agency reported October 25.

In a letter to President Hassan Rouhani earlier this week, Ayatollah Khamenei provided the government with some points to be observed in implementing the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, the official name for the Iran nuclear deal.

"The deal with a foreign government for swapping enriched uranium with yellow cake will start only after a secure agreement has been clinched to that effect, along with sufficient guarantees [for its implementation]. The aforesaid deal and exchange must be done on a gradual basis and on numerous occasions," the Leader had stressed.

Kamalvandi in reference to the letter ensured that Iran-Russia relations are friendly and the two sides enjoy mutual trust.

"We will do our best to compose the agreements in a way that no problem would arise and no misunderstanding may occur," the official underlined.

As part of the JCPOA, Iran needs to reduce the amount of its enriched uranium to a certain quantity. To do so, the country has decided to sell its stockpile to a foreign country.

This would provide grounds for the International Atomic energy Agency (IAEA) to okay Iran's accomplishment of a set of measures to ensure the peacefulness of its nuclear activities.

Based on that, the IAEA will file a report that would help the group P5+1 (the US, UK, France, Russia, China, and Germany) to implement the JCPOA, which includes the lifting of economic sanctions on Iran.

The JCPOA was clinched by Iran and the six powers in July to end a long dispute over Iran's nuclear program.
