"The delay in constructing the Bushehr Nuclear Station was connected with technical problems," Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast was quoted as saying by the Iranian Mehr news agency. "However, Russia will transfer the station by late March according to our latest negotiations."
"We have agreed that the station will be completed by late March, 2010," he said.
"I hope Russia will fulfill its obligations and transfer the station in time," Mehmanparast added.
The Iranian-Russian contract to build the Bushehr Nuclear Station was signed in 1995 in Tehran. The contract's total value is $1 billion. Construction was initially to finish by Jan. 8, 1999. Ten years have passed, but the station is still not open. The Russian AtomStroyExport company is building the plant.
