Azerbaijani parliament adopts changes to some laws on road traffic

Azerbaijan, Baku, April 5 / Trend M. Aliyev /

The bills about additions and changes to the Code of Administrative Offences, the law on "Road Traffic" and the Civil Code have been submitted for discussion at a meeting of the Azerbaijani parliament.

There are problems with fulfilling the commitments in case of the death of a person who has issued a general power of attorney, chairman of the parliamentary committee on legal policy and state building, Ali Huseynli said at the meeting. Sometimes citizens abuse the provisions of the legislation.

The powers of attorney, issued before the adoption of the law, will remain in effect. The amendments to the law will only apply to the individuals who will get new powers of attorney, Huseynli said.

A proposal was made for these changes to the Civil Code to come into force from October 1, 2012.

Other additions and changes envisage the increase in penalties for violation of several traffic rules, penalty points from 10 to 12, the obligatory installation of warning signs about the presence of radars on the roads. The procedure of making the administrative report without the participation of the person who committed an administrative violation was also defined.

The Azerbaijani Parliament discussed and adopted all three bills.
