The Iranian president says Nowruz is going global, bringing a message of peace, affection, human values, friendship and respect for the rights of others, Press TV reported.
"Nowruz has a message of hope, revival and prosperity. Nowruz features the cultures and values of our peoples," said Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in the ceremony marking the Nowruz Celebrations held in Tehran on Sunday.
Addressing the event, the president underlined that Nowruz respects the interests of all mankind, and is against aggression and oppression.
"Nowruz lays the groundwork for extensive relations among humans and nations," President Ahmadinejad underscored.
"Thanks to our collective cooperation and connection, Nowruz has gone global," said the president.
He said if Nowruz is properly introduced to world nations, it will win global recognition and will be embraced by people in the four corners of the world.
Elsewhere in his remarks, President Ahmadinejad lashed out at the foreign military presence of troops in Iraq and Afghanistan, adding that "hegemonic powers" try to create wars and instigate unrest in other countries to serve their own interests.
"Unfortunately, the US government and its allies see their interests in plundering the riches of other nations, and [see] the improvement of their economic situation in the destruction of the infrastructure and economy of other countries," added the president.
He said "hegemonic powers" do not hesitate to trample the rights of other nations underfoot and provoke wars and killings just to advance their own interests.
