Positions of Georgia and Spain on the forthcoming NATO Chicago Summit coincide, Georgian Foreign Minister Grigol Vashadze said in Madrid following a meeting with his Spanish counterpart José Manuel García-Margallo.
"We discussed our mutual relations within NATO, and our view on Georgia's role in the Alliance and its involvement in various NATO formats fully coincide," he said, stressing that Spain supports Georgia's territorial integrity and sovereignty.
Vashadze said that he familiarized the new Spanish government with the situation in the occupied territories of Georgia and with the reforms ongoing in Georgia.
"The new Spanish government is ready to continue close cooperation, which in recent years has been outlined between our countries," he said.
Vashadze stressed that the parties paid special attention to the deepening of economic relations and activation of Spanish businessmen on the Georgian investment market.
