Market share of SymbianOS decreases by over three times in Azerbaijan

The market share of SymbianOS operating system in Azerbaijan decreased by 3.4 times or 49.77 percentage points in 2012, Global Stats said on Saturday.

The market share of SymbianOS operating system in Azerbaijan decreased by 3.4 times or 49.77 percentage points in 2012, Global Stats said on Saturday.

According to Global Stats, Symbian OS holds the third position in Azerbaijani mobile operating systems market with a market share of 20.5 percent.

Series 40 operating system is a leader in Azerbaijani market showing the greatest growth rate in 2012. As of late December, the market share of Series 40 reached 29.59 percent.

The second most popular OS in the Azerbaijani market is Android operating system, which holds 27.82 percent market share, showing a 18.76 percent increase in 2012.

iOS holds the fourth position, followed by operating system of unknown origin - 5.08 percent, Samsung OS- 2.79 percent, Blackberry OS - 2.35 percent, and Sony Ericsson OS with 0.59 percent.

Global Stats also gives figures for the market of computer operating systems. Thus, according to the Global Stats, the market share of Microsoft Windows 7 in the operating systems market hit 63.56 in 2012, showing a 16.89 percent increase.

It is followed by Microsoft Windows XP with 32.28 percent, whose share fell by 17.37 percentage points in 2012.

The rest of the market is distributed between iOS (1.28 percent), Windows Vista (0.78 percent), MacOSX (0.78 percent) and others.
