The first meeting of the Azerbaijan-UK Intergovernmental Commission for Economic Cooperation will kick off in London Feb. 10.

Economic ties between the UK and Azerbaijan and prospects for their expansion will be discussed during the meeting, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Economy said in a message Feb. 9.

Azerbaijan's delegation for the meeting will be comprised of officials and businessmen. It will be headed by Shahin Mustafayev, Azerbaijani economy minister, who co-chairs the intergovernmental commission.

Francis Maude, minister of state for trade and investment, is the co-chair of the commission from the UK's side.

The commission will continue its work until Feb. 11.

Trade turnover between Azerbaijan and the UK stood at $563.99 million in 2015, according to the Azerbaijani State Customs Committee.

Some $553.33 million of this figure accounted for import of UK products.
