BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 27. Russia's Gazprom and the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) have discussed the possibilities of developing gas engine fuel market in Azerbaijan, Trend reports.
The issue was reviewed during a working meeting between Gazprom's CEO Alexey Miller and SOCAR President Rovshan Najaf.
"The parties considered current and prospective areas of cooperation in the gas sector," Gazprom said in a statement, following the meeting.
Meanwhile, on November 15, 2022, Russia commenced gas deliveries to Azerbaijan under a new sales and purchase agreement.
"The agreement was signed between Gazprom Export LLC and Azerbaijan's SOCAR. These gas supplies will continue until the end of March 2023, with a total of 1 billion cubic meters of gas planned for delivery," Gazprom said.
Gazprom previously supplied gas to Azerbaijan from 2000 to 2006, but the deliveries were interrupted with the launch of the Shah Deniz gas and condensate field. Gas supplies resumed in 2017 and 2018. Azerbaijan, in turn, supplied gas to Russia from 2010 to 2014.
