By Klavdiya Romakayeva - Trend:

In the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, the truth is on the side of Azerbaijan, Michael Finkel, a lawyer, specialist in international law, and international politics told Trend.

“Azerbaijan is waging a liberation war for its ancestral lands. 20 percent of the country's territory is occupied. And we are talking not only about Karabakh, but also about seven more regions,” he said.

Finkel believes that even Armenia itself does not recognize the regime created in Nagorno-Karabakh, which says a lot.

“Firstly, because Armenia understands that this is an absolutely hopeless occupation from the point of view of international law, and secondly, Armenia is afraid of sanctions,” expert said.

“It is not at all surprising that Arab, Armenian mercenaries, from Syria and Lebanon, even mercenaries from the countries of the former Soviet Union are fighting there,” the interlocutor said.

The specialist also noted that the Azerbaijani army is much stronger and much better equipped. Among other types of weapons, the Azerbaijani army has excellent Israeli weapons.

“I see a high degree of patriotism among Azerbaijani soldiers and I understand that the international community fully supports Azerbaijan in this war,” Finkel said.

“Israel does not shout and does not speak about it due to various reasons and the delicacy of the issue, but fully supports Azerbaijan with deeds, not words," the expert emphasized.

Finkel said that this is why Armenia recalled its ambassador and that Armenia knows very well how loyal Israel is to allied relations with Azerbaijan.

“Friendship with Azerbaijan is unprecedentedly important for us. We value our allied relations. And we understand that we are united by centuries of history,” said Finkel.
