Georgia, Tbilisi, Oct. 15 /Trend, N.Kirtskhalia/

The Parliament of Georgia today adopted finally the new Constitution. 112 MPs voted for and five against the new edition of the Constitution.

In total, 44 changes have been made to the current Constitution. They almost completely change the structure of the state and the system of government staff. In the future, the candidacies of ministers and the prime minister will be nominated and approved by parliament. Now the source of forming the government will be voters.

The new Constitution also envisages the separation of powers between different branches of government and ensures the independence of the court.

Part of the constitutional amendments will enter into force on the 15th day after publication, the other part - from Jan. 1, 2011. Finally, the main law of the country will come into force in 2013 - after the presidential elections. Prior to that, the lawyers and MPs should bring all Georgian legislations into conformity with the new Constitution.

It should be noted that the Georgian MPs did not adopt the Constitution before the publication of the final conclusions of the Venice Commission, which gave its expert assessment.
Published on Friday the Venice Commission conclusion stated that "the VC welcomes the constitutional reform in Georgia, according to which, a number of presidential powers shifts to the government."
