The state will continue to pay great attention to maintaining the necessary level of national defense at the expense of purchasing the most modern military equipment and weapons, the Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhammadov said.
According to the Turkmen government, it was said at the State Security Council's meeting, held recently on the frontier post Bagir near Ashgabat.
Turkmenistan has the status of positive neutrality and is not a member of any military-political blocs. The Turkmen leader demanded that the relevant high-ranking officials take the effective measures to enhance the patriotic education activities and pre-conscription training."
"The state will do everything to make Turkmenistan's borders, which are always open to friends and good neighbors, impregnable, when it comes to smuggling drugs, weapons or any other threats to national security," Berdimuhammadov said.
