Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhammadov has offered condolences to the Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad over the crash of a passenger plane, which took place near the town of Urmia and resulted in numerous casualties.

Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhammadov has offered condolences to the Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad over the crash of a passenger plane, which took place near the town of Urmia and resulted in numerous casualties.

According to the Turkmen government, the Turkmen leader also conveyed words of sympathy and support to families and friends of those killed and injured.

The aircraft Boeing-727, owned by Iran Air, was en route from Tehran to the city of Urmia and made an emergency landing as it crashed on Sunday. Iranian Transport Minister stated that the crash happened due to the weather conditions and lack of visibility. The airplane crash killed 77 people, while 26 were injured.
