Almaty to host int’l conference on SCO anniversary

Almaty will host an international scientific and practical conference on the topic "Ten Years along the Path of Security and Cooperation: Success Stories to Counter Modern Threats and Challenges within the SCO" on Feb. 22-23, Kazakh Foreign Ministry said.

Almaty will host an international scientific and practical conference on the topic "Ten Years along the Path of Security and Cooperation: Success Stories to Counter Modern Threats and Challenges within the SCO" on Feb. 22-23, Kazakh Foreign Ministry said.

"The event is held within Kazakhstan's chairmanship in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in 2010-2011," the Foreign Ministry said.

SCO Secretary-General Muratbek Imanaliev, Director of the SCO Regional Counter-Terrorism Structure Executive Committee Dzhenisbek Dzhumanbekov, Deputy Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan Kairat Sarybai and representatives of leading research centers of the SCO member states, observers and SCO dialogue partners, as well as Afghanistan and Turkmenistan, will attend the event.

Also Member of Foreign Policy Advisory Council Li Fenglin, Deputy Director of the Center for Strategic Problems of the North-East Asia and the SCO's Institute for Far Eastern Studies Anatoly Klimenko, Talantbek Saliyev, Head of Department of the Kyrgyz National Security State Committee, chief scientific employee of the Kazakhstan Institute of Strategic Studies under the President Konstantin Syroezhkin, Head of the Second Department for CIS and Northwestern Neighbouring Countries of the Iranian Foreign Ministry Najafi Khoshroudi, Director of the Center for East Asian and SCO Studies at the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO) Alexander Lukin, as well as other officials will address the event.
