The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe should strengthen its support to Turkey in combating terrorism, a member of the Azerbaijani parliamentary delegation to PACE, MP Ganira Pashayeva said Monday at the PACE autumn session during the discussions on the last parliamentary elections in Turkey.
"As for the elections in Turkey, it should be noted that they were conducted in accordance with the European standards. I wish success to the new Turkish parliamentary delegation to PACE," Pashayeva said.
Pashayeva said being in Turkey, the members of the observation mission, which also included her, held numerous meetings and discussions, during which it became clear that the biggest problem, worrying the Turkish citizens, is terrorism.
"The Assembly should strengthen its support to Turkey, which is fighting against terrorism and the terrorist organization guilty of the deaths of thousands of people. The increase in the number of innocent victims of terror in the recent days should seriously worry us," she added.
