The fictional "Armenian genocide" is a lie, slander and is not legally justified, Turkish Ambassador to Azerbaijan Hulusi Kilic said during a roundtable discussion on the fictitious "Armenian genocide" organised by the ruling New Azerbaijan Party (NAP) on Tuesday.
During the Turkish Prime Minister's visit to Armenia in 2005, it was proposed opening up all the archives and recognise all that is proven based on historical facts, Kilic said. However seven years passed and the Armenians have not accepted this proposal.
"Historians should deal with the history, while politicians with politics. We want peace and prosperity. The entire world sees what is happening - Armenian aggression continues, but no one says anything about it. Thus, we see that double standards are applied," Kilic said.
Armenia and the Armenian lobby claim that the predecessor of the Turkey - Ottoman Empire had committed the 1915 genocide against the Armenians living in Anadolu, and achieved recognition of the "Armenian Genocide" by the parliaments of several countries.
