Kazakh and South Korea discuss bilateral cooperation

By Elena Kosolapova- Trend: Kazakh Prime Minister Serik Akhmetov and South Korean Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Strategy and Finance Oh-Seok Hyun discussed bilateral cooperation at the meeting in Seoul, Kazakh prime minister's press-service reported on Dec. 10.

Serik Akhmetov is on an official visit to South Korea.

"The sides also discussed prospects for mutually beneficial projects in various sectors of the economy. In particular, they talked about projects in the sphere of transport engineering, renewable energy, high technology, light industry and other industries, in which Korean business is actively engaged," the press-service said.

A number of bilateral documents were signed after the meeting. The governments of the two countries signed agreements on cooperation and mutual administrative assistance in customs issues. Kazakh "Samruk-Energo" and Korean Hyundai Corporation; Chambers of Commerce of Kazakhstan and Korea; and Kazakh Samruk-Green Energy and a subsidiary of Korean Hyundai Corporation signed three different memorandums of understanding.

During the visit Akhmetov noted that Kazakhstan and Korea are successfully cooperating in trade and economics, and stressed the need to further strengthen and expand mutually beneficial ties.

"Kazakhstan is committed to sustainable growth through accelerated industrial-innovative development. In this context, we are interested in mutually beneficial investment and technological cooperation with Korea," the prime minister said.
