Senior EU officials will visit Baku in April, Gultekin Hadjiyeva, a member of Azerbaijan delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), told Trend.
Hadjiyeva noted that the visit will be paid according to the Council of Europes business schedule, which targets observing the preparations for the re-run elections to the parliament on May 13 2006. Delegation will review transparency of the elections, whether they are conducted line with the Council of Europe and international standards and to observe the agitation campaign. Meetings with state officials, heads of NGOs and political leaders are also on schedule.
The MP, however, does not possess exact data on the delegations composition. This will be defined by the Council of Europe. The delegation includes representatives of the PACE chairman, Rene van der Linden, and the Council of Europe Secretary General, Terry Davis and members of the Committee on monitoring of human rights of the Venice Commission.
