About 600 Prohibited Religious Books Seized in Baku
Azerbaijan, Baku, 27 February / Trend corr. E.Huseinli / The National Security Ministry of Azerbaijan and State Committee on Religious Structures held joint operation in the Abubakr Mosque in Narimanov District of Baku on 26 February. Yagut Aliyev, the head of State Committee press-service, stated to Trend that total 599 religious books were seized from religious shops as a result of operation.
In 2007, the Committee held expertise over 750 religious books and imposed prohibition on sale of 140 books.
Some 252 religious books were seized from Ahli-Beit, 202 - from Ihlas, 70 - from Burhan and 27 - from Guraba shops. Some confiscated books were brought to the country illegally.
An investigation has been launched into the case.
