Australia win men's pairs in rowing

Australia on Saturday won the gold medal in the men's pairs of the Olympic rowing competition as they held of a challenge from Canada, dpa reported.

For Australian Drew Ginn, who was partnered by Duncan Free, it was the second consecutive gold in the event.

The Canadian pair of David Calder and Scott Frandsen was second, while Nathan Twaddle and George Bridgewater of New Zealand bettered their fourth place from Athens to take bronze.
