The verdict was read today in the case of a school director who was convicted of forging diplomas for teachers at several schools in Azerbaijan.

The Azerbaijani Heinous Crimes Court sentenced Yevlakh Public Music School No. 1 Director Baylar Agalar oglu Baylarov to two years in prison.

Earlier, the public prosecutor asked the judges to sentence Baylarov to eight years.

As a result of the investigation, 172 teachers working in various cities and regions were found to have received forged diplomas. Four teachers had received forged certificates. The teachers had received 692,567 manat in salary.

During the investigation, 101 diplomas and three certificates at the Ganja Musical College were found to be forged. Thirty-one diplomas at the Azerbaijani National Conservatory Music College were also discovered as falsified.

Baylarov is charged with Article 311.3.1 (Receiving a Bribe) and 320.1 (Falsifying Official Documents) of the Azerbaijani Criminal Code.
