The Institute of History under the Azerbaijani National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) will prepare and publish a new edition of "History of Azerbaijan".
In this regard, the preparatory work has already begun, the director of the ANAS Institute of History Yagub Mahmudov told media. He said that a new edition of "History of Azerbaijan" will consist of three volumes. They will be prepared within 5-6 months.
The "History of Azerbaijan" published once in three or seven volumes had some shortages," he said. "The Yerevan and Derbent khanates were not included in the history of Azerbaijan. Borchali and southern Azerbaijan were not studied well. The new edition of the "History of Azerbaijan" will cover all the historical lands of Azerbaijan."
A two-volume collection of documents of the "Genocide of Azerbaijani people" has been already prepared. This edition will be presented soon, he said.
The great work was done to study the Democratic Republic of Azerbaijan, Mahmudov said. He said that the "Encyclopedia of ADR" was prepared at the instructions of national leader Heydar Aliyev.
"A department of the Institute of History, dealing with the history of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic, used the documents from the archives of several countries to better study this period, of Azerbaijan's history," he said.
He said that these documents will be translated into English, French and Russian. "Thus, there will be no unexplored issues related to the period of the democratic republic," he said.
