Azerbaijan, Baku, Feb. 8 / Trend, I. Izzet /
Most countries with a long history of independence still do not have a satellite. Azerbaijan has only recently gained independence. The country's launching of a satellite is a very big event, Azerbaijani MP Fuad Muradov told Trend today.
He recalled that 2013 was declared the Year of ICT in Azerbaijan by the president.
He added that the country will develop these technologies and achieve new successes.
"This important event will affect the daily lives of our citizens," he said. "First, this will create conditions for better providing citizens with electronic services, high speed internet and quality TV and radio services. I congratulate everybody on this historic day."
The Azerbaijani first artificial satellite Azerspace-1 was launched into orbit from Kourou Space Center in French Guiana on Feb. 8.
