Government to implement a number of measures on social problems of refugees from third countries

The government of Azerbaijan plans to implement additional measures on solving the social problems of refugees from third countries desiring to receive the refugee status in Azerbaijan, the State Committee on Refugees and Internally Displaced People (IDP)
of Azerbaijan told Trend.

A number of events have been implemented already according to the action plan on solution of the social problems of persons wishing to receive the refugee status in Azerbaijan approved by the Cabinet of Ministers, the State Committee said. Among them building the centre of refugees from third countries on the Geytepe area of Djalilabad region, solution of issues related to their education, healthcare and other social problems. The government cooperates closely with the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) in this issue.

The government plans also to allocate funds for implementation of projects related to the refugees from third countries. Only 20 persons from Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq, Turkey and other states received the refugee status so far.
