The Head of the State Committee for Family Problems, Women and Children, Hijran Huseynova, made a report for the media due to the anniversary of the creation of the State Committee. Huseynova spoke about the work done over the period of the activities of the State Committee which was created on February 6, 2006 according to the order of the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev.
According to Huseynova, number of employees and staff of the Committee were confirmed on August 9, 2006. The activities of the State Committee include organizing events, preparing proposals and advices, holding monitoring. She said that over its activities, the Committee has received nearly 1,000 complaints and all of them have been taken into consideration and raised before the relevant organizations. For the reported period, the Committee has held national conference on fight with violence against women, gender equality, and protection of rights of children. These events have been organized in co-operation with relevant ministries of Azerbaijan and international organizations.
In addition, the Committee participated in the international conference within the co-operation with UNO and other international organizations. Within the visit of the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, to France on 29-31 February, the State Committee for Family Problems, Women and Children of Azerbaijan signed a co-operation agreement with relevant organization of this country.
