Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. E.Javadova / The criminal trial involving Azerbaijan's former Minister of Economic Development, Farhad Aliyev, his brother Rafik Aliyev, former President of the Azpetrol Group of Companies, and seventeen other people, has continued at the Court of Heinous Crimes presided by Judge Tofik Pashayev.
Azad Garayev, the Azerbaijani Tax Ministry official, testified as a witness during the trial. According to Garayev, many violations were discovered during an inspection carried out at Azpetrol from 19 October to 25 May 2005. R.Aliyev did not agree with these accusations.
Previously, the Prosecutor, Nazir Bayramov, had proposed to summon other officials of the Ministry to court which caused dissatisfaction amongst the lawyers and the trial was postponed.
