BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 11. According to the forecasts of the World Bank (WB), the current account surplus of Azerbaijan's balance of payments in 2022 will be 22.7 percent of GDP, Trend reports with reference to the updated economic review of WB for the Europe and Central Asia region.

According to WB forecasts, the growth of the positive balance of payments in Azerbaijan will slow down from 2023 through 2024.

"It is expected that in 2023 this figure will be 16.5 percent and in 2024 - 12.3 percent," the WB said.

According to earlier Fitch Ratings agency reports, the current account surplus of the balance of payments of Azerbaijan in 2022 will be 23.7 percent of GDP.

According to the agency's analysts, the increase in the forecast indicator is due to the growth in energy exports from Azerbaijan, also the high prices and demand for them.
