BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 31. Last week it became known that the volume of traffic through the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (Middle Corridor) increased by 77 percent in the first nine months of 2022, Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Switzerland Fuad Iskandarov said during press conference in Geneva, Trend reports.
It was noted that increasing the capacity of this corridor is on the agenda.
Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR or Middle Corridor) opens up new opportunities for Eurasian markets. This topic is becoming more and more relevant, the state members of CIS will work together to develop the existing potential, in particular, developing trade in the North-South direction with access to Iran, the Persian Gulf, and India.
Moreover, Azerbaijan pays special attention to transport field as an intensively developing and promising segment of the national economy. The country is actively developing its transport potential, making a significant contribution to the implementation of such projects as North-South, East-West, the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR). The opening of Zangazur corridor will significantly increase the transit opportunities by several times and serve to strengthen the investment climate as a whole.
Last week it became known that continuous measures are being taken to improve the legal framework to turn Azerbaijan into one of the main transport centers in the region, boost transit and regional traffic, and simplify transit traffic and logistics processes, and in the field of international transportation, great importance is attached to the training of professional drivers, and so, drivers are involved in the training.
Also work is underway to improve the organization of passenger service. In this regard, the possibilities of building a sustainable financial model, and creating a more efficient management system using a cashless payment system are also being studied.
