BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 12. Azerbaijan's retail trade turnover grew by 3.6 percent from January through September 2023 year-on-year and reached 40.8 billion manat ($23.9 billion), Trend reports.
The turnover of food, beverages and tobacco products increased by two percent (to 23 billion manat or $13.5 billion), non-food goods - by 4.8 percent (to 17.9 billion manat or $10.5 billion).
The data of the State Statistics Committee of Azerbaijan shows that the population spent 56.1 percent on food products, 4.4 percent on beverages and tobacco products, 13.4 percent on textiles, clothing and footwear, 5.4 percent on motor fuel, five percent on electrical goods and furniture, 2.3 percent on pharmaceutical goods and medicines, 1.1 percent on computers and 16.7 percent on other non-food products from January through September 2023.
The value of goods sold by economic entities of the non-state sector increased by 3.2 percent from January through September 2023 year-on-year and accounted for 99.7 percent of the total retail trade turnover.
Average monthly per capita retail trade turnover in Azerbaijan amounted to 447 manat ($262), including turnover of food, beverages and tobacco products - 251 manat ($147), non-food products - 196 manat ($115).
Earlier in 2022, the turnover of retail trade in Azerbaijan increased by 3.1 percent year-on-year and reached 52.1 billion manat ($30.6 billion). The turnover of food, beverages and tobacco products increased by 2.3 percent (to 29.4 billion manat or $17.2 billion), non-food goods - by 4 percent (to 22.8 billion manat or $13.4 billion).
