Nearly 9.7 billion manat was invested in the economy of Azerbaijan in 2010, an increase of 21.2 percent from the figures of the previous year.

6.4 billion manat of these investments were spent on construction-installation work, State Statistics Committee of Azerbaijan reported.

"Three fourth of the invested funds were provided by domestic sources. 48.6 percent of money spent was directed to the production of goods, 51.4 percent - construction of facilities in the service sector.

Houses with a total area of 1.8 million square meters, secondary schools for 17,273 pupils, hospital with 886 beds, outpatient clinics to serve 685 people, preschool institutions for 1,270 seats, club for 1,055 seats and other facilities have been built in Azerbaijan in 2010.

Of the total capital expenditure, 50.8 percent accounted for the funds of enterprises and organizations, 32.8 percent - budget, 4.2 percent - funds of population and 12.2 percent - other.
