Kazakhstan imports up to 80 percent of fruits and vegetables from abroad. So, commissioning a new greenhouse complex on three acres in Karaganda is very important for food security, Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev said.
The new greenhouse complex was commissioned in the Karaganda region on Monday.
He said that having such a land, Kazakhstan must provide itself with agricultural products.
"The customs checkpoints on the border with Russia have been lifted since July 1," he said. "New opportunities are opened for expanding the production."
