Baku, Azerbaijan, Nov. 7

By Elena Kosolapova - Trend: Kazakh metallurgy group Eurasian Natural Resources Corporation PLC (ENRC) announced production results for the third quarter of 2013 on Thursday.

The company's aluminum production hit 63,000 tons in the reporting period in line with the same period of 2012.

Ferroalloy production in the third quarter of 2013 increased by 2.3 percent and amounted to 450,000 tons. Ferrochrome production rose by 2.6 percent to 350,000 tons.

Alumina production decreased by 13.3 percent to 372,000 tons. Iron ore extraction increased by 1.3 percent to 10.009 million tons.

Group revenue in the nine months of 2013 was marginally below the corresponding period in 2012, despite a weak market environment with lower realised commodity prices. A solid operational performance resulted in higher sales volumes in the group's key commodities, which largely offset the negative impact of lower prices.

Kazakhmys is a leading international natural resources group with significant interests in copper, gold, zinc, silver and power generation. It is the largest copper producer in Kazakhstan and one of the top worldwide with 17 operating mines, 10 concentrators and two copper smelters.
