Georgian president presents Georgian wine at festival in Italy

By Nana Kirtzkhalia - Trend: Georgian president Mikheil Saakashvili and Georgian winemakers attended the opening of wine festival in Merano (Italy).
Speaking before the participants, Saakashvili said that the purpose of this event is to popularize the Georgian wine at the European market, the county's presidential administration said.
Georgian companies were represented in Merano for the first time.
"I am from the country that has historically been the home of wine and the Greeks took wine namely from Georgia to the different countries across the Black Sea. Today there are 500 varieties of Georgian wines. The reality is that wine has many special qualities. It is very important for me to be here together with you. Thereby I am busy with popularization of Georgian wine and that's why there is a group of Georgian winemakers with me. We have recently created the Georgian Wine Association and partnership relations and deepening of cooperation with you is very important for us in order to promote the popularization of Georgian wine in the European market," Georgian president said.
